Flags, Sabers and Rifles are the equipment of choice. Flags are the most popular in color guard accessories and equipment. The routine is pretty centered on flag spinning. The flags must showcase majestic colors which are the highlight of the occasion. It may also be the school flag or the State flag, depending on the purpose of the exercise.

But as always, to complete the ensemble, there are different color guard accessories to choose from. These accessories not only complete the entire color guard uniform, but also adds pizazz to the routine. And there are a variety to choose from. From hats, to shoulder and breast cords, to cap cords and all those tiny details that make the color guard uniform stand out and make it more majestic.

Color guards in marching bands are similar to color guards in the military. In fact, color guards in the schools imitate the military color guards, although with more grace and style and dancing. This is particularly obvious in their routines, all the marching and flag carrying and spinning. But not only there, color guards wear pretty similar uniforms, complete with insignias, braids, and cords that are common in military uniform.
